The Week in Words...
Mar. 25th, 2004 07:43 pmWell, another week goes by with little to report really, but one cannot take issue at the prospect of delightful inactivity once in a while.
The main highlight of the last few days has been the return from his Antipodean sabbatical of my good friend Che, who returned on Sunday. His arrival also heralded the end of my dry season, celebrated by the intake of some six pints of Snakebite and Black at our local, which was however, to his chagrin, a temporary lapse only. I am still majoratively teetotal, house parties and the Calling still being non-alcoholic events for yours truly.
This is still partially due to the embarrassment I felt for the now legendary New Year Incident, and also has the dual advantages of saving me money and helping my diet no end. I prefer to spend time with my friends and acquaintances sober, I have found, and therefore most of you will not see me drink any alcohol at future engagements.
Another aspect of my week that has pleased me greatly is the possibility that my beloved,
hardcorenympho, is yet again going to be joining me at the Calling, but instead of returning to her native Watford on the Wednesday as usual, she well be remaining with me until Sunday, situations permitting. This is a wonderful thing, and if it comes through will be the longest we've spent together since we started dating. It's made me very very happy.

surje,
davefish and Che (WINOLJ) went to see Zatoichi, a film which although I had heard relatively little about, the snippets of information I had received had made me anticipate it with relish. So much so as to make me leave the Chelsea-Arsenal Champions League quarter final during half time to go to the Arts Cinema to see it. It constantly surprised, and I will offer no concrete review as to not risk spoilers. Just go and see it, it's very good, very funny and the action and plot are typical bushido action movie stock, but with a couple of interesting twists. It features several things which I find to be almost essential to a successful motion picture, Swords, severed CGI limbs and extremely pretty transvestite geishas.
And this evening I am mostly going to see Passion of the Christ due to the fact that it's free, and I feel I really should see it. Which is where I am going now, unfortunately having to miss the
camgothfilmclub.
