As the songwriting mission is ongoing (having to write a full set of songs for the new band before we can so much as set foot on a stage) I'm looking for different ways to approach the process. I've been working on writing stuff on the piano, but my keyboard is 17 years old and has no key weighting or touch sensitivity, and so is very frustrating for a 'sloppy' player like myself, particularly when I'm playing Dresden Dolls stuff where the small dissonances which are so much of the DD sound are instead coming out as fully fledged high volume bad notes.
So yesterday I went shopping for a digital piano, and bought one of these:

It's a Yamaha p70, and it's lovely. Touch sensitivity and general fantasticness abound, and I'm terrifying myself with the realisation that over 15 year later, I can still play virtually the entire Jim Steinman back catalogue.
