Wow, what a night! This evening
poetman and I travelled up to Northampton as part of our Cultural Exchange Program, to a night called 'Ascension'.
We arrived early, being the first in, and the high level of excitement the staff showed at having customers was a little worrying at first. The DJ came screaming out of the booth to say hello and ask us if we had any requests.
Our fears were unfounded however, as within the hour the club was filling up nicely, and the DJ set the scene for the rest of the night. Many people introduced themselves, everyone was so friendly it was almost like they weren't bloody goths! The music tended towards the mundane at times (Closer, Love Never Dies, This Corrosion - you get the idea) but was always fun, and there was a really REALLY gorgeous girl there who had the Elvira thing going on rather well, who I spoke to, danced with, and at the end of the night asked for her phone number whilst in a clinch on the dance floor. She held me tightly, and moved her face closer to mine until our noses gently brushed. 'She's going to kiss me', I thought, deleriously. She then whispered in a very miserable voice 'I'm really sorry, I have a boyfriend'. Not what you want to hear when nose to nose with a ridiculously beautiful woman, but there you go. I tensed all of my facial muscles, knowing that to look crestfallen would make me look a bit pathetic, but instead replaced crestfallen with a rictus, possibly even a spastic twitch of the cheek. Not good. I still kissed her hand, and told her that I'm looking forwards to going next month, and it was all very lovely, but BUGGER! BUGGERBUGGER BUGGERATION!
It was a fantastic night though, and we met lots of new people, and made some new friends, which can't be bad for a first attendance. We'll definitely be back again, by which time I'll have had some ideas in the field of boyfriend removal.
